FEAR IS NEAR INSANITY

Updated: Jun 27, 2019

Most people tell their story of walking into a martial arts gym for the first time as scary and intimidating. For a short while it can be, until you've settled in with the culture, trained a few times and start making some bonds and connections with other members. Most members end up saying, "I don't know why I was scared, It's nothing like I thought it'd be". Don't get me wrong, martial arts is tough!

• Tough on your body • Tough on your mind • Tough on your ego • Tough on your lungs • Tough on your spirit

Through these challenges and help from mentoring, coaching and training partners. The growth and value is massively life changing. The biggest thing that most people report in training martial arts and joining a club like #StrikeMMA is that the people, the community inside the club is what really grabs them and helps them feel comfortable.

"The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity. Do not misunderstand me danger is very real but fear is a choice"

-Will Smith

People join martial arts gyms for a multitude of reasons.

• They are Competitive and love the challenges the martial brings • They are a fan of the sport (UFC) • Fear when they are in social situations (possibility of physical harm) self defense • Anxiety in social situations, groups, meeting new people. • You often get the posers. The wannabe UFC fighters who train for very little time, have an interclub fight, splash pics all over social media, QUIT! but the photos remain their main profile pics and their new identity.

Ultimately those who stick with martial arts #mma will find that they grow in so many ways than they originally expected. The initial fear of walking into the gym quickly vanishes and they become a valued member of the team and community. It's not easy to train long term. The body will undergo a lot of stress, niggles and sometimes injuries. Wounds heal. But our pride, stresses, anxiety and sense of self are tested. It is humbling, strengthens the soul and largely shapes your substance of character.

Learn some amazing skills and make some new friends, grow your confidence and sense of self worth.
